Oslo Opera House

Facade

Opera House, Oslo, Norway

Architects: Snøhetta

Eight individual designs of embossed and indented aluminium are accurately repeated across 9000 m² of facade of the Oslo Opera House - a winner of the 'culture' category at the inaugural World Architectural Festival. Norwegian artists Astrid Løvaas and Kirsten Wagle created the facade design to represent a particular pattern used in traditional weaving techniques. The interplay between the embossed and indented shapes creates a captivating and ever-changing facade for this remarkable building.
