Open area calculators
Determine the correct perforated pattern for your perforated metal solution using the open area calculators on this page
Enter any two of the following values: hole size, pitch, or open area, to calculate the third.
Generally, the pitch dimension should be greater than the sum of the hole size and the material thickness.
The calculators on this page are designed for open area calculations only and do not guarantee the feasibility of the suggested perforation.

Round holes - triangular pitch
Round holes - rectangular pitch
Square holes - rectangular pitch
Square holes - staggered pitch
Slot holes - staggered pitch
Rectangular holes - staggered pitch
What does "open area" mean?
Open area is the percentage of a sheet occupied by holes. For instance, a 40% open area means 40% of the sheet consists of holes and 60% is solid material.
The open area impacts the perforated sheet in terms of appearance, durability, shading, ventilation, function and overall performance.
